Jerry Wayne Wade, age 77, of Hokes Bluff, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024. Born on December 15, 1946, he was the son of John Preston Wade and Nancy (Nannie) Jane Wade. Jerry was the middle child in a loving family, with an older sister, Carolyn Miller of Southside, a younger sister, Belinda Wade, and other sisters and brothers, Margie Martin, LaRue Upton, Nell Stemen, Jimmie Terry, Johnny Wade and Merle Wade who predeceased him. Jerry graduated from Hokes Bluff High School in 1965 and earned a degree in accounting from Jacksonville State University in 1975. His passion for numbers was evident throughout his life, and it is said that he may still have the first dollar he ever earned. He proudly served his country in the Alabama Air National Guard for ten years obtaining the rank Technical Sergeant. On February 1, 1969, after only two months of dating, Jerry married the love of his life, Deborah (Debbie) Katherine Wiemann of Gadsden. Together, they built a strong and loving family, celebrating nearly 56 years of marriage filled with unwavering love and commitment. Jerry was a devoted father to two sons: Jerry Keith Wade, who is married to Petra, and Matthew Wayne Wade, married to Dena. Jerry's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Gracie Drake, and her husband, Payton Drake, Mattie Archer and her husband, Logan Archer, Samuel Wayne Wade and numerous nieces, nephews and brother and sister in laws. Jerry had a special bond with his beloved dog, Chester, whom he adored as a child. Every day, he ensured that Chester enjoyed his daily car ride, which always ended with a special order of French fries. Chester was more than a pet; he was considered the third son in the family. A man of many passions, Jerry loved fine wristwatches-boasting a collection that included a Rolex-and high-quality writing instruments, such as Montblanc pens. He used these pens daily to journal and log most everything that occurred each day, capturing moments that reflected his love for life and family. As a strong family man, he taught his sons invaluable life lessons, including the importance of hard work and responsibility. Jerry instilled a strong work ethic that has guided them throughout their lives. Known affectionately as "Pop" by his grandchildren, Jerry was always present at family events, from ballgames to band performances. His love was a constant source of strength, and he made sure his family knew they were cherished. A man of deep faith, Jerry held Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This belief brings comfort to his family, as they find solace in the thought that his passing is not a loss, but rather a promise of reunion. Jerry Wayne Wade leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
