Valerie Swain Obituary

Valerie Rezena Swain, 45, of Sylacauga, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on September 20, 2025 at UAB Medical Center, in Birmingham, Alabama. Born on December 14, 1979, to the late Willie James Swain, Jr., and Rosie Mae Windom Swain. Valerie lived her life with courage, laughter, and a personality that could light up any room. Valerie was preceded in death by her daughter, Nivea Marie Swain, parents, Willie James Swain, Jr., and Rosie Mae Windom Swain, two brothers, Billy Wayne Swain, and Alan Jerome Swain. She leaves behind her two daughters, Brianna Lafay Swain and Ashunti Nicole Swain both of Sylacauga, AL; three sisters, Lisa Diane Swain, Catherine Katrina Ann Windom, and Stephanie Swain (Samuel Taylor) all of Sylacauga, AL; one brother, Lynnwood Swain of Sylacauga, AL; a special niece, Treasure, affectionately known as "Her Tanky"; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Special friends who were dear to her heart, Joe Robinson and Yancey Turner, Jr. Valerie's family, friends and all who knew her were forever touched by her love, humor, and fierce spirit. Valerie attended Sylacauga High School and explored many career paths before finding her passion in the manufacturing industry. In 2016, she began working as a welder at Fleetwood Metal in Sylacauga, Alabama, where her hard work, dedication and skill were admired by all until her health declined. Valerie was known for her strong and bold presence; she was the type of woman who could tell you the truth without sugarcoating it, and you'd still laugh because of the way she said it. She carried a joking, fun spirit that made people feel at ease, but she was also strict when it came to values, family, and doing what was right. Above all else, Valerie deeply loved her family. Her daughters were her greatest pride, and she poured her strength, humor, and wisdom into everyone she loved. Family was the heartbeat of her life, and she showed it through her loyalty, protection, and unwavering presence. A member of Fresh Start Ministry of Sylacauga, Valerie found strength and community in her faith. She will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted sister, cherished aunt, and loyal friend who never held back her heart. Valerie's family reminds everyone that this is not a goodbye, but a "see you later." Please take this moment to cherish your loved ones, as no one knows the day or hour. Valerie's spirit, laughter, love, and devotion to family will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
