Edward Amschel Obituary
Edward Thomas Amschel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away in Kalispell, Montana, at the age of 81. Ed was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, to J. Edward Amschel and Mary K. Hurst Amschel. He spent his early childhood in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he fondly remembered riding his bicycle beyond the town limits to watch the filming of the western classic Shane (1953). He also enjoyed exploring the surrounding wilderness, hiking, and fishing. Ed later moved with his family to Hemet, California. He graduated from Hemet High School there and then attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where he earned a Bachelor degree. During the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, specializing in cryptography. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Lynne K. Odermatt. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Wyoming and worked as a U.S. Forest Service park ranger in Teton County pursuing his love for the outdoors. Later, Ed earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming and returned to California, where he taught elementary school while preparing for the bar examination. After passing the bar, he joined his father and brother Peter as a partner in Amschel Law Corporation, where he practiced law. After retiring, he returned to his passion for education, working as a substitute teacher in Hemet. In 2014, Ed and Lynne moved to Kalispell, Montana, where they built a home and deepened their appreciation for the outdoors. Ed also resumed substitute teaching in the Flathead Valley, while also enjoying the beauty and community of northwest Montana. Ed is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lynne; his eldest son, Ryan, and Ryan's wife, Ellen; his second son, Kurt; and his daughter, Tera, and Tera's husband, Tyler Puckett along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his humility, honor, strength, loyalty, and love. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for the family.
