Janet Rodeghiero, 89
Janet Ilona Lemery Rodeghiero passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in Whitefish on November 5, 2025.
Janet was born on October 5, 1936, in Polson, Montana, to Louis and Ruth Lemery. She grew up in Dixon, MT, where she learned the steadiness, care, and gentle humor that stayed with her all her life. She graduated from the University of Montana (B.A. in Home Economics Institutional Management - 1957 and master's degree -1958) and completed her internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. While at the University, she met Roy C. Rodeghiero, and the two were married on December 28, 1960.
Janet and Roy settled on the Rodeghiero family ranch in Roundup, Montana, where they raised their six children. Janet worked for many years as a dietary consultant for hospitals and care centers in Roundup, Columbus, and Billings, balancing this work quietly alongside her most devoted role-being a mom. Her children were surprised in high school to learn she had worked earlier in their lives and had always assumed the plastic food models were toys and that every family enjoyed home-cooked, well-balanced meals three times a day. They remember her meeting the school bus, cleaning their sweaty uniforms, making lunches, and traveling with Dad to EVERY game. She loved her family deeply, steadily, and in all the daily ways that mattered most.
Janet's Catholic faith was the foundation of her life. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Roundup and became a Benedictine Oblate, which meant she chose to live the spirit of the Benedictine tradition from her home-practicing prayer, humility, hospitality, and service in her everyday life. She lived her faith quietly and consistently, not in words, but in how she treated others.
She and Roy stayed on the ranch until Roy was diagnosed with ALS. At that time, daughter Diana and her family welcomed Roy and Janet to their home in Whitefish, MT, during Roy's illness. After Roy's passing in 2005, Janet made her home just down the road in Kalispell, purposely located between the home of daughter Rita's family and Risen Christ Catholic Church. She enjoyed many activities in Kalispell, including water aerobics, lunches with friends, daily mass, the Chesterton club, and televised Griz games. She cherished watching her grandchildren's activities and later loved visits from her grandchildren as they became independent adults. She remained a constant presence-always encouraging, always listening, always proud. Janet lived independently in her home - driving herself to mass, chatting with friends on the telephone, doing her weekly exercises, and enjoying life – until just days after her pancreatic cancer diagnosis in late October. A few days before she passed, she felt strongly that God was calling her, and she wanted to stop any treatment that would slow her journey to heaven. She passed peacefully two weeks after learning of her diagnosis, surrounded by children and grandchildren.
Janet is survived by her children: Paul (Stephanie) Rodeghiero of Eagle, ID; Sara (Kris) Albertson of Meridian, ID; Diana (Sean) Frampton of Whitefish, MT; Lisa (Bill) Speare of Billings, MT; Mark (Mariah) Rodeghiero of Star, ID; and Rita Rodeghiero of Bozeman, MT. Janet is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren, as well as by her brother, Jim (Nancy) Lemery of Redmond, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and her parents.
A Rosary will be prayed at Risen Christ Catholic Church in Kalispell on Friday, November 28, at 1:30 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m.
The funeral will be live-streamed at
www.columbiamortuary.com and can also be viewed on demand on that website.
Burial will take place beside her husband, Roy, in Roundup in the spring or summer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Risen Christ Catholic Church, 65 W Evergreen Dr., Kalispell, MT 59901, or St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 503 Main St., Roundup, MT 59072.
Janet was a devoted wife, mother, loving grandmother, faithful friend, and a woman of steady and genuine faith.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
