Joan Matulevich Obituary
Joan L. Moore Matulevich peacefully passed away Sept. 12, 2025 after a full and abundant life.
Joanie was born Dec. 5, 1937 in Havre, MT to Joe B. Moore and Blanche C. Moore (née Connick, later known as Cleo Flynn), joining sister Jacqueline. She graduated from Havre High School and married U.S. Airman Don Matulevich in 1956 and together raised two children, Dawn and Joe. The Matulevich family lived in Havre, Great Falls, and Salt Lake City, Utah. The day after his retirement, Joanie and Don moved to Kalispell where they remained for the rest of their lives.
Joanie made the world more beautiful. She was a proud Montana girl, from the prairies to the mountains, and was able to live most of her life in the Big Sky State. Joanie was funny and clever, creative, curious and resourceful. Joanie had high standards and held you to them. She loved a family day at the cabin, her dogs, Coca-Cola, and four-leaf clovers. She was Irish in temperament and breeding and fearless in defense of her loved ones and friends. A child of the dirty thirties, she cried because she had no shoes, only until she saw a man who had no feet. She never rooted for the favorite (unless her grandkids were playing).
Joanie was deeply proud of her family and the wonderful spouses and significant others that her children and grandchildren brought into the fold. Joanie is survived by daughter Dawn Kato (Tim) of Missoula, son Joe (Myrna) of Kalispell; her grandchildren, Logan of Missoula, Dillon (Sydney) of Missoula, Blaine (Melissa) of California, Laurel (Nate) Saravalli of Missoula, and Iris (Colten) Wiley of Kalispell; and three great-grandchildren, Scarlett Saravalli, Flynn Wiley, and Merritt Matulevich. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister.
The family would like to thank Immanuel Lutheran for their excellent care and Logan Hospice for their help in the last weeks.
Per Joanie's request, no memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place at Johnson-Gloschat of Kalispell.
