Signe Elnore Ferguson, 97

Signe Elenore Ueland Ferguson, 97, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2023.

Signe was born on January 29th, 1926, in Pomeroy Township, Minnesota. She was one of ten children born to Norwegian immigrant parents, John and Alma Ueland. She was raised on the family farm in Wirt, Minnesota. She graduated high school in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, in 1943. After graduation, she worked in a Defense Plant making bomb sights during WWII.

In 1945 she met and married Walter Harvey Ferguson. They had five boys- James, Ronald, Arden, Wayne, and Kim. The family moved to Kalispell in 1955. She loved her boys and treated all their friends like family. Signe became a loving caregiver for Walter when he became disabled until he died in 1972. She worked at the Devonshire Motel in housekeeping; and for 15 years as a laundry attendant at the Immanuel Lutheran Home, where she retired.

Signe was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings: Ernie, Kenny, Alf, Magda, Johnny, Lief, Norman, Finn, and Rangvald (of Norway); Her husband Walter and her three beloved sons Kim, Ronald, and James. She leaves behind two sons: Arden and Wayne (Rhonda) Ferguson; 12 grandchildren: Stacie Martin, Mandy Broulette, Melissa Ferguson, Alecia Leonetti, Michelle (Brett) Scott, Lance (Brenna) Ferguson, Jocelyn Holloway, Carrie (Steve) Johnson, KayCee (Jason) Zielinski, Sarah (Dean) Shandy, Spencer Ferguson, and Dustin Ferguson; 32 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor this extraordinary mother and grandmother, the family will have an interment Graveside Service Saturday, May 13th, at noon at Conrad Cemetery, with a gathering to follow at Smith Valley Grange.
