Ardith Todd Obituary

Ardith A. (Kitterman) Todd, 101 of Franklin, IN passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2025, at Otterbein Franklin Seniorlife Community in Franklin, IN.

On October 16, 1924, a baby girl was born to Maurice and Merle (McCain) Kitterman. She was named Ardith Ann. She was a good little girl.

She attended IPS Schools #62 and #54 and graduated from Thomas Carr Howe High School in 1942. She entered Indiana Central College (U of Indy) in 1942.

In her early years, she was an active member of Brookside United Methodist Church in Indianapolis where she was inspired to become a minister's wife. This dream came true when she married Robert M. Todd in 1945 who became a minister. They were blessed with four children, Carl W. Todd (Julie) of Indianapolis, IN, Catherine A. Todd of Indianapolis, IN, Morris L. Todd (Joanne) of Sarasota, FL and Merrell D. Todd (Mary) of Martinsville, IN. There are seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Also included in our family is an Honorary Daughter, Linda Muterspaugh (deceased) and her three daughters and their nine children.

Robert proceeded Ardith in death on August 4, 2014, after sixty-nine years of marriage.

Ardith taught vocal music at IPS School #58 for Twenty-one years and directed several church choirs and home economic choruses.

She and Robert moved to the Franklin United Methodist (Otterbein Seniorlife) Community in 1998.

In later years Ardith's interests were traveling, home and abroad, wintering in Florida, crossword puzzles, scrap booking, line dancing, knitting, crocheting, cross stitching and talking and listening with friends. She was a member of Mooresville United Methodist Church.

Our Mother was an exceptional Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. She remembered names and life stories of the people she met. Didn't forget birthdays, and appreciated all gifts, even saving the petals of dried-up flowers that were sent to her. Mother will always be with us in Spirit and Love.

Reverend Dr. Amber Karkosky - Litten will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 4PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/ardithtodd. I remember Mrs. Todd. She was my music teacher at #58 from 1970 to 72. I remember her playing the Autoharp. She was a very good teacher.
