Bobbie Turner Obituary

The earthly pilgrimage of Bobbie Joyce Turner has peacefully come to an end, and on September 17, 2025, she was gently received into the tender arms of her loving Redeemer. In the quiet hours of Wednesday morning, she laid down her burdens and closed her eyes for the final time. When she awoke, she found herself standing safely on the far shore of the stormy Jordan River, embraced by the Savior who had long awaited her.

Having stepped into Emmanuel's Land, she was swiftly enveloped in a reunion so tender, so sublime. There, her beloved husband Ray was waiting, just as the Lord had promised-another promise fulfilled. Bobbie will never feel the sting of regret for placing her trust fully in Jesus Christ. His words, steadfast and true, are worthy of all faith. He has kept His promise to her, and now she is at home.

There is so much to share about Bobbie's life. Above all, she would want us to mention how fiercely she loved her family. She was devoted to her husband, Raymond Turner, for nearly 70 years. Bobbie was always looking out for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a little lady who carried a big punch when it came to protecting her loved ones.

Bobbie was a faithful and beloved member of Christ Fellowship Church for 34 years, often referring to it as "her" church. She called it that because she treasured the church and deeply cared about the people who worshiped alongside her. As the church gathers this coming Lord's Day, Bobbie's kind smile and warmth will be missed by the church family. And no church breakfast or dinner will ever quite be the same without her.

Bobbie was also a true saleswoman. She sold Avon products for more than 50 years, earning numerous awards for her hard work and dedication. One of her fondest memories was a trip she earned to Hawaii, which she enjoyed with her dear friend Patsy Weaver. She was enterprising and driven to succeed.

In addition, Bobbie and Patsy ran yard sales every summer for many years, donating all the proceeds to their church-amounting to nearly $50,000 over time. One year in particular, their efforts helped save the church from a financial crisis. We extend a special thanks to everyone who ever donated "inventory" to their yard sales. She also single-handedly raised many thousands of dollars for the church through an annual fundraising effort at Elder-Beerman. And, she donated the fitness equipment to begin a ladies' work-out group in Edinburgh. She loved the cadre of ladies who formed the group-sharing special days and birthdays with them.

Bobbie also made candy to sell at the annual Tri-Kappa Christmas Bazaar and baked countless birthday and wedding cakes for friends and family. Her grandchildren never endured the horrible fate of a store-bought birthday or graduation cake. She made something special each year according to each grandchild's likes and interests. She was a talented cake baker, her secret ingredient being love.

She was born January 19, 1940, in Kentucky to the late Edward Lewis Bohannon and Winnie Mangus Bryant. She married Raymond G. Turner on March 10, 1956, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2024. She is survived by her son, Kenneth "Kenny" Turner, of Edinburgh; daughter, Phyllis (Alan) Burton, of Edinburgh; son, Richard (Tonya) Turner, of Edinburgh; grandson, Paul (Tracy) Burton, of Edinburgh; granddaughters, Mandi Turner, of Edinburgh, Leah Burton, of Edinburgh, and Calyn Turner, of Beech Grove; great-grandchildren, Preston (Grace) Smith, of Edinburgh, Walker (Emma) Smith, of Edinburgh, Reagan Burton, of Edinburgh, Ellie Burton, of Edinburgh, and Iona Elliott, of Edinburgh; great-great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Rhett Smith; and sister Opie Brown, of Russell Springs, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ann Burton, Doris Vaughn, brother, Robert Bohannon; and great-grandsons, Julian and Jasper.

A funeral service will be conducted by her grandson, Pastor Paul Burton, at 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 22, 2025, in the Believers Chapel at Christ Fellowship Church, 125 Lind Drive, Edinburgh. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburgh. Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Funeral Care, Edinburgh.
