Larry Jines Obituary

Larry Duyane Jines, 89, of Franklin, IN and formerly of Illinois (where he raised his girls), Georgia and Tennessee passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Indiana Masonic Home at Compass Park in Franklin, IN.

He was born March 18, 1936, in Humboldt, Tennessee to Carlis E. Jines and Minnie Jane (Williams) Jines. He married Edith "Eydie" (Leslie) Jines on October 6, 1958, in Chicago, IL; she preceded him in death on October 25, 2020, due to Covid.

Larry was drafted into the United States Army having served in Frankfort, Germany.

He was a tradesman working as a sheet metal fabricator for Western Electric later AT&T for thirty-three years retiring in 1991 at the age of 55, which blessed him with many years for cruises, fishing, boating and lots of adventures in a variety of RVs. His retirement also allowed for weeklong trips with Nana and their three grandchildren. He wintered in Okeechobee, Florida for more than 20 years where many friendships were developed.

Larry attended Grace United Methodist Church in Franklin where he enjoyed driving the Dixie Chopper during grass cutting season. He was an active member of the IBEW Union in Cicero, IL. He held offices with the Pioneer Camping Club where he enjoyed family trips. Larry played many games of softball and hung up his mitt after playing with the Seniors League.

Survivors include his daughters Belinda M. Jines of Gulf Port, FL and Veneita L. Jines Taylor of Franklin, IN, grandchildren Ryan W. Taylor (Sarah) of Franklin, IN, Adam S. Taylor (Tara) of Denver, CO and Madison J. Taylor of Franklin, IN, great-grandsons Ethan S. Taylor and Dylan M. Taylor, his brother Charles E. Jines (Gerry) of Sinking Springs, PA, nieces/nephews and a special family friend Sandra Flake in Franklin, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 62 yrs.

Pastors Andy Kinsey and Joe Sandford will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 5PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN with military honors to follow by the United States Army Honor Guard and will be live-streamed at www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/larryjines. Friends may call on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 3PM until service time at the mortuary. A private family inurnment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, IN.
