Richard Sturm Obituary

Richard "Bud" Clyde Sturm, 91, of Greenwood, passed away on November 21, 2017. He was born on March 12, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Richard John William and Clydia Mae Sturm.

He was a graduate of Shortridge High School. Richard received his Undergraduate from Hanover College, teaching credentials from Butler University, and a Masters from Indiana University. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and served in the Philippines. Richard was a proud Eagle Scout and was also a member of the Indianapolis Honor Flight, Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and was a 33rd Degree Mason. He served in the Indianapolis Public School system for 38 years and retired as a Principal.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Sturm; children, Jay Sturm, Gretchen Sturm Hays, and John Sturm; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Salisbury; and brother, August Sturm.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 445 E. Stop 11 Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46227. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church.

Services have been entrusted to G. H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home.
