James 'Jim' H. McRoy Sr.
FARMINGTON – James "Jim" H. McRoy Sr., of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2023, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis at the age of 73. He was born on April 6, 1949, in Bloomfield, Missouri, to the late Calvin and Mildred (Bowling) McRoy. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Calvin "Gene" McRoy, and his sister, Margie Jines.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marsha (Barnes) McRoy, his sons, James H. (Sarah) McRoy Jr. of Farmington and Calvin (Samantha) McRoy of St. Louis, his grandchildren, Kylie McRoy, Felix McRoy, and Ronan McRoy, his sister, Sue Hampton of Columbia, many nieces, nephews, and friends and his special canine companion, Winnie.
Jim proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He worked as a Sergeant of Transportation for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 25 years. After retirement, he worked at Plummer's for ten years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on lawn mowers and was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 7 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel officiated by Pastor Alan Harp and Pastor Brian Jenkerson. Interment with full military honors at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
