Anne McQuillin Obituary

Anne Margaret (Rueshoff) McQuillin, 86, of The Villages of Hillview in Coatesville, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, daughters and daughter in law on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Paoli Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Anne was the daughter of the late Gerhard and Margaret Rueshoff. She was the beloved wife of Norman B. McQuillin. The couple shared 65 years of marriage. Anne was an extraordinary, kind and caring woman. She had a sharp wit, was smart as a tack and loved to laugh. An avid reader she always carried a book with her wherever she went. If you played cards with Anne you didn’t stand a chance. She always won whether it was Bridge, Hearts, Gin Rummy or Go Fish. Anne had a remarkable green thumb. Any plant she touched turned green and bloomed. If the plant didn’t look well she would clip it back, sprinkle it with water and something else then sit back to wait and see what might happen. It usually perked up, turned green and bloomed again! She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club of Paramus, NJ Eleventh District where she served as 2nd Mate and Yearbook Director. For many years Anne was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader in Ridgewood, NJ. Anne was known as one of the “Church Ladies” at St Rose of Lima Parish in Gaithersburg, MD where she managed luncheons for the frequent funerals. It didn’t matter who had passed she made sure everyone had something good to eat. As a result of her openhearted volunteer efforts and her travels with Norm with the US Marine Corps to Quantico, VA, 29 Palms CA, Fort Sill, OK and Camp Lejeune, NC, Anne accumulated a wonderful collection of casserole recipes that Norm, Jeanne and Margie all enjoy. Anne was a co-owner of Doll House Décor, Eagle, PA. She was awarded several times by her peers as having a gift of putting miniature rooms, spaces and places together that made you want to go inside them to explore and experience. She was awarded Grand Champion at the 1995 Montgomery County, MD Agricultural Fair for her front porch miniature exhibit. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, West Brandywine Twp., the Hillview Red Hats and Craft Club. Anne enjoyed collecting miniatures, gardening, reading, and playing cards. Wonderful displays of miniatures are scattered throughout her house. In addition to her husband, Anne is survived by her children: Margaret “Margie” McQuillin, spouse of Lynda Frushon, of Forty Fort, PA, and Jeanne Brookover-Saybolt, companion of David Joseph Saybolt, of Glenmoore; and siblings: Mary Rueshoff, John Rueshoff, and Richard Rueshoff. In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her siblings: Sister Agnes Vincent and Betty Louvolo. Special thanks are due to the Main Line Home Care Nurses and therapists who helped Anne rehabilitate following stays at Paoli Hospital and the ICU staff who made her passing peaceful. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 9:45-10:45 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 2835 Manor Rd., West Brandywine Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Anne’s name may be made to the Westwood Fire and Ambulance Co. 1403 Valley Rd Coatesville PA 19320 and the, Main Line Animal Rescue: 1149 Pike Springs Rd, Chester Springs, PA 19425.
