Harry Lymberis Obituary

Harry Lymberis, 74, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, while vacationing in his beloved homeland in Nafpaktos, Greece.
He was the beloved husband of Athena Papatrianadfilou Lymberis, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Harry immigrated to Coatesville with his wife and their young daughter in 1967, where he began his hardworking journey toward fulfilling the American Dream. He was fortunate enough to accomplish that dream and was always grateful to his new country, America.
His reward later in life was to travel back to his beloved home in Greece twice a year, specifically the village of Homori where he was born and raised. He also proudly served in the Greek Army before coming to America.
The village of Sadsburyville, however, quickly became his new home away from home here in America. Gone but not forgotten, Harry had become and will forever remain a local icon in Sadsburyville and best known for "Harry's Hotdogs" which are now legendary to the area. He loved to run his restaurant and bar tirelessly, never taking a day off in order to provide for his family, and this year marked his 40th anniversary at Harry's.
Over the past 20 years he enjoyed working alongside his son John and son-in-law Frank at the restaurant and was proud to see the next generation follow in his footsteps and continue his tradition and legacy.
His passion and love was his customers and employees, who inevitably became his friends and loved him back, and became part of his broader family. You were almost always guaranteed to see him at his place, where he was always smiling, friendly and made everyone feel happy and welcomed.
Harry was a generous man, often contributing and donating to local charity events and organizations.
Also, he had become an avid fan of baseball and football, and enjoyed time in the bar with friends watching and bantering about the games and exchanging life's stories in general. His annual hunting trip with family and buddies to Potter County was one he looked forward to every year.
Most of all, he loved spending the holidays with his family, as those cherished few days off from work were his highlights throughout each year.
In addition to his wife, Athena, Harry is survived by his daughter, Yiota Petropoulos and son-in-law, Foti (Frank); son, John and daughter-in-law, Demetra; sister, Koula (Vicki) Anagnostopoulos and brother-in-law, Nick; and sister-in-law, Olympia, wife of his late brother Greg, who passed away in 2011. He is also survived by his pride and joy, granddaughters Amalia, Athena, Magdalene (Maggie), and his namesake grandson Harry; and countless cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved.
In addition to his beloved brother, he was preceded in death by his father, John; mother, Panagiota; brother, Greg; and sister, Kalliope.
He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Lancaster.
He was a member of the following organizations: The Order of AHEPA Chester County Chapter, West End Fire Company, Thorndale Volunteer Fire Company, life member of Sadsburyville Fire Commpany, Polish American Citizens Club, Parkesburg VFW, American Legion Home Association of Christiana, Pa., and countless others.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at St. Peter's Church, 2835 Manor Road, Coatesville.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Sept. 19, at Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, 392 Charles St., Coatesville, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to your local volunteer fire companies or the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

John, Frank & Family,

I'm not the most ‘regular of regulars' that frequents Harry's, but over the years on my Tuesday visits I came to know and appreciate Harry as a benevolent and incredibly beloved patriarch of not only the Lymberis family, but of the entire community of Sadsbury!

To you his family and closest of friends, I hope the pain of his passing short, and the remembrance of his plentiful life filled with love, friends and laughter forever!

To those like me…perhaps an acquaintance…a friend…or even just an occasional patron; feel lucky and better for having known Harry; I do! Moreover, feel honored to take a seat around his beloved bar that he himself once sat in…Cheers Harry!... Gone but never forgotten!
