Jane Mitman Obituary

Jane Kline Mitman of Downingtown Jane K. Mitman, age 88, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 19, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Ida and William Kline, Jane graduated from Downingtown High School, and from the Coatesville School of Nursing. She married her high school sweetheart Robert, “Beets” Mitman and celebrated their 66th anniversary before his death in January of this year. She fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a nurse, and dedicated her life to helping others. She spent the better part of her career in the emergency department at the Coatesville Hospital later known as Brandywine. She then continued her love of nursing working at Med Center 100 until age 82. Over the decades of service her kindness and compassion touched the lives of thousands in our community. Jane, who was a lifelong resident of Downingtown, was a member of Central Presbyterian Church for over six decades where she served as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher as well as an ordained deacon. She was a woman of great faith. Jane is survived by her son Gerald, “Chuck” of Berwyn, son David and his wife Cheryl of Atglen, and her daughter Cynthia Bachman and her husband Fritz of Elverson. Her beloved grandchildren include Timothy Bachman, Jennifer Harris, Melissa Bachman, and Scott Mitman. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren. Jane was an incredibly kind and loving person, and will be missed deeply by all. Her home and family were her greatest source of joy, and she was happiest when her house was filled with love and laughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, William and Ida Kline, her brother Gerald, and Sister Diane. Visitation to pay respects to the family will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 28 at the Central Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Uwchlan Ave., Downingtown. A memorial service and celebration of Jane’s life will be held immediately following at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 399 Market St., Ste. 102, Phila., PA 19106 or online at www.alz.org.

Aunt Jane,
I don't think it has sunk in yet, but I just cannot believe you are gone. I know you are with mom, Uncle Beets, Uncle Gerald, and your parents. I thank God for giving me the best Aunt and Uncle I could have ever asked for!! You loved me unconditionally and were so faithful all my life. I love you and Uncle Beets so very much and I know you loved me the same. You will be missed so greatly (more than words can say) and the wonderful memories we had will live on forever. May you enjoy peace and love as you live eternally in the arms of Jesus! Love forever, Kimmy

Mrs Mitman was a very nice person. I can remember a few emergencies at our house when my Mom would tell me to "Go and get Mrs. Mitman". She never hesitated to help. May she rest in peace.

Jane was our neighbor since the day I was born up until I was 16 when we moved about 6 miles away. My parents also used her as a babysitter in times of need. She was always kind and helpful and always happy. She will be missed by all.
