Jeremiah Reardon Obituary

Jeremiah Joseph Reardon, age 63, lost his 13-year battle with head and neck cancer on Dec. 20, 2020, at home with his family. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Gerald M. and Mary Lois Reardon. Jerry was a 1975 graduate of CASH and a 1986 graduate of Goldey Beacom College. He worked as plant accountant for 43 years at Somat Co., originally located in Pomeroy before moving to Lancaster and becoming a division of ITW Corp. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Judy, and his daughter, Jennifer, of Roxborough. Jerry and Judy met in 1979 at the Downingtown Bowling Palace, where they bowled in leagues until 2019. He is also survived by 6 sisters, Mary Becker (Don), of Sun City, AZ; Peg Salabsky, of York; Kitty Weidner (Bob), Carol Reardon and Teresa Sibbett (David), all of Coatesville; Amy Capetola (Paul), of Downingtown; a brother, Patrick (Robin), of Easton; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a great-nephew, Alex Howe. During the 1980s and ‘90s, Jerry volunteered with the Coatesville Little League, coaching and umpiring games for Minor League players. He was awarded Volunteer of the Year in 1989 for his dedication to developing baseball skills and sportsmanship in the children who participated. From an early age, Jerry loved sports and was a fan of the New York Jets, St. Louis Cardinals and Villanova Wildcats. He traveled with his brother, Pat, to cheer on the Jets in AZ, Chicago and Miami and took baseball vacations to many cities over the years with Judy and Jen to see Cardinals and Phillies baseball games. He was happy to give his daughter the opportunity to see the sights of the USA. One other thing Jerry shared with his brother was their love of The Three Stooges. The two would recite scenes from several episodes and burst into laughter. Family game night and birthday and holiday celebrations were very important to Jerry, especially during his illness, as family would get together for meals and fun times. Jerry’s funeral mass will be celebrated, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11am at Our Lady of Consolation, Parkesburg. Visitation will begin at 10am. Interment will be private in Our Lady of Consolation Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jerry asked that donations be made in his memory to Our Lady of Consolation 603 W. 2nd Avenue, Parkesburg, PA 19365 or to American Cancer Society 1818 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
