John F. Filler

John F. Filler of Rising Sun, MD John F. Filler, age 46, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Christiana Hospital, DE. He was the husband of Beth Ann Vahey Filler for over 14 years. Born in Media, PA, he was the son of the late Franklin and Cathrine Mansour Filler. John was passionate about studying the Bible and sharing what he learned with others. He liked to help people fix things and could turn trash into treasure. He and his 9 year old daughter, Hannah, enjoyed training American Ninja Warrior style, even building a mini obstacle course in the basement. Spending time with Beth and Hannah was his greatest joy. In addition to his wife and daughter, John is also survived by his sister Carolyn Akers of Dover, DE, and a brother Ron, husband of Karen Filler of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a baby and his brother Jerry Filler. The funeral service will take place from the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, PA on Tuesday, March 29 at 11 a.m. with a viewing time from 9 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Peter Doerfler will be officiating. Interment will be in the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a fund is being set up for Hannah.
