Michael Helms Obituary
Born April 8, 1954 to Jeanne & Harry N. Helms, Jr. in Downingtown, PA, he is survived by his father Harry, brother Mark (Bobbi), sisters Maureen Wenck (Taylor), Margie Helms Glah, Marylou Starner (Bob) and Madelyn Mueller (Steve). Also survived by 9 nieces, 1 nephew and 10 grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his mother Jeanne.
He attended Bishop Shanahan High School and graduated from Henderson High School in West Chester in 1972. Received a Bachelor of Science from West Chester University and a Master's degree in Economics from Texas A & M University.
He has resided in San Francisco for the past 30 years.
What he did, speaks to his accomplishments - such as becoming a member of MENSA and earning a coveted medallion as a Yellow Cab driver in San Francisco. He was honored with an award for his compassionate service for transporting the disabled.
But who he was, speaks to the character of his being and why he will be so missed. Michael was a gentle soul ... quick to smile and laugh. Nothing brought him more pleasure and joy than spending time with his nieces and nephews and their little ones. Uncle Michael was full of surprises - especially on family vacations, with fun and quirky gifts and activities for the kids, and of course, building awesome sand castles on the beach. We never knew who enjoyed those days more - the children or Michael.
As a son and brother, even though he was far away, he was ever close in our hearts.
May you rest in peace. We love and miss you.

Dear Family of Michael,
We are very sadden by your loss. We just found out that he had passed. We were wondering why he stopped coming around.
Michael was a very sweet customer of ours at our Mailbox Rental store for many years. He enjoyed playing with our cat Shadow very much, even though she gave him love bites every time.
We had very deep conversations on Philosophy. He did tell me that he would miss our deep dialogues if he was to leave.
Michael was generous, humorous & wonderful. We will miss him.
