Richard Andrulis Obituary

Richard Andrulis, age 80, of West Chester, PA, passed away on April 1, 2023. Beloved husband of Linda Andrulis; loving father to Richard Andrulis Jr, Jeremy Andrulis, and Karin Evans; devoted grandfather of 7; and brother to Dennis and Peter Andrulis. Richard was born in the Bronx, NY to Peter and Irene Andrulis, but spent most of his formative years in Rochester, NY. He graduated from Fordham University and apparently wanted a break from the harsh winters and enrolled in graduate school at the University of Texas. While in Austin, he met Linda on a blind date and did what came natural to an academic: he first checked her test scores before dating her. After their wedding, they moved to Syracuse NY for several years before settling in West Chester, PA where they spent 50 years raising their family and enjoying their retirement. Richard spent many years as a professor at Villanova University in the school of Psychology where he shaped and educated multiple generations of future Human Resource leaders. He often took his work home and would frequently shift into professor mode with a friendly lecture or some sage advice for his children and their friends - and really anyone who was around. Richard and Linda loved to entertain and created many memories by hosting birthdays, weddings, and anniversary parties. Their home was the destination for his family at the holidays. Richard and his loving wife of 55 years also enjoyed creating memories outside their home by traveling extensively throughout North America, South America, Europe and Asia to visit family and friends - or just explore a different culture and have a new experience. Richard's memory and spirit will live forever in everyone that he met. Thank you Richard. Thank you Dad. We couldn't have ask for a better husband, brother, father, 'papa' or friend. Arrg. About 20 years ago while visiting Richard and Linda, I saw his PhD diploma from Univ of Texas Austin on the wall of their West Chester home and observed that the graduation year was 1968, the same year I graduated with my PhD from UT. Out came his yearbook for 1968 and, sure enough, we were both listed with our "great" accomplishments. What a great surprise we had along with a toast to the past.
