Sally Simmons Obituary

Sally J. Simmons of West Chester Sally J. Simmons died peacefully at her home, Saturday, December 25, 2010. She was surrounded by family. She was the wife of John J. Simmons Jr., who preceded her in death in September, 2010. They shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Edmund and Jane Clark of Philadelphia. Sally attended Beaver College. Sally was a homemaker and was employed by the West Chester School District, West Chester University, and Penn State University, Delaware County Campus. After retirement she enjoyed traveling, painting, sewing, bird watching, and gardening. She loved being a mother and especially a grandmother. Surviving her are five children, Lynn Warren (Phil), Edmund, Susan Bratcher, Jane Simmons, and Carol Klimoff (Erik); she was lovingly called "Nana" to Marci Sunderland (Mark), Richard Wood (Danielle), Jacqueline Villalobos (Charles), Brynna Bratcher, Erik Klimoff, Maggie and Mary Barbeau; and her great-grandchildren, Maya Sunderland and Chloe Villalobos. Sally is survived by a younger sister Joan McLaughlin (John) of Danbury, Conn. Sally was preceded in death by her dear husband Jack, her mother and father, her grandson, Owen Klimoff, her son-in-law George Bratcher. A Friday night ritual for Sally and Jack was to have pizza at their favorite pizza place, Athena's, with relatives and friends. Sally's family invites friends and relatives to celebrate Sally's life at Athena's Pizza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on what would have been her 82nd birthday, January 30, 2011. Athena's is located in the shopping center at 1530 Paoli Pike (corner of Paoli Pike and Boot Road), West Chester.

Mom, I'll miss ya too...

January 26, 2011

I worked with Sally at the West Chester School District. She was a real dear heart and could make anyone's day brighter by seeing her smile. Sally was a real delight to know. We joked about our Aquarian traits and made allowances for other's negative behavior. I have thought of her many, many times through the years. My sincere sympathies to her family and loved ones. ~anita dipaolantonio diggins

I was one of the priviledged to have pizza on Friday nights with Jack and Sally....and it is a memory I shall keep always. Words cannot express how saddened I was to hear of her passing... My husband and I consider ourselves friends of Jack and Sally forever. Tom and Jack spent many hours together...we'll see you again someday....RIP....we love you.

Aunt Sally ,
I will always remember the great talks we had when I visited before anyone else was awake. I am so glad Quinn got a chance to know you and Uncle Jack. I will miss seeing your smile and hearing your laugh that was so contagious. I love you Aunt Sally
