Stuart Constable Obituary

Stuart Romig Constable, 64, of West Bradford, PA, passed away on June 1, 2018. Born in Downingtown, PA in 1954, he was the son of Ruth R. and the late Robert O. Constable. Stuart worked at Highland Orchards for nearly 46 years, starting in August 1972. He was a member of the State Horticulture Society of PA, the Peach and Nectarine Research Association, and the Chester-Delaware County Fruit Growers Association. Stuart worked at the Pennsylvania State Farm Show apple booth for decades and also displayed apples at the Unionville fair; earning a multitude of ribbons, including many Best of Show. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grand dogs, taking trips to his friend’s mountain cabin in Bedford County, collecting milk bottles, hunting, and was a tractor enthusiast. Stuart was the beloved husband of Barb (Leaman) Constable, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage; loving father of Ashley L. Johnson (Keith H.) and Chad R. Constable; dear brother of Brad Constable (Dee), Judy Constable (John Guth), John Constable (Pat), Craig Constable (Marjorie), and the late Glenn R. Constable. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation 5:30-8 PM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at The Donohue Funeral Home, 43 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, 610-269-3080 and 9-10 AM Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church, 46 W. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335 followed by his Funeral Service at 10 AM. Interment West Bradford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Chester County Food Bank, 650 Pennsylvania Drive, Exton, PA 19341 would be appreciated. Stewart was the staple of the farm community for as long as I remember. I always looked forward to our chats about farm often comiserating about the deer. We will all miss him.

During the Forge Millwork days, Stuart and Brad would mess around with me when Stuart would visit the shop cause you couldn't tell them apart. Never fail, I would be talking with the wrong one.

Stuart was the first person from the orchard I spoke to when we first moved into the park. He was a kind, sweet man, he will be missed greatly. So very sorry for his loss to his wife and family.
