Alexander Sparks Obituary

Alexander Reed Sparks, age 25, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025. A brave and compassionate soul, Alex dedicated his life to service as a firefighter and paramedic with the Shelby County Fire Department. Alex lived life with heart and purpose. He was a devoted son, a protective brother, and a loyal friend. His family meant everything to him, and he never hesitated to step in as a caregiver or lend a helping hand. With an easy smile and a generous spirit, Alex made friends wherever he went. He had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and enjoyed working with leather in his free time. A proud firearms enthusiast, he valued skill, safety, and responsibility. He also loved to travel, exploring new places across the country and embracing adventure wherever he found it. Alex's life, though short, was rich with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Cooper, Sherman and Ronnie Sparks, and his great-grandparents, James and Dorothy (Momma Dot) Cooper. He leaves behind a loving family: his parents, Tracy Sparks and John Turner (Jay) Sparks, III; his brother, John Kyler Sparks; his sister, Lilly Sparks; and his grandmother, Kathy Jean Eastep. Their lives-and the lives of so many others-were forever touched by his kindness and courage. Serving as pallbearers are those who shared in Alex's life with friendship, loyalty, and love: Chris Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Cody Hoskins, Randale Golden, Luke Pritchett, Amanda Hoskins, and Allen Armstrong. Their presence is a reflection of the meaningful bonds Alex built throughout his life. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, Monday June 23rd. A celebration of Alex's life will follow at 4:00 p.m. also at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
