Andrew Painter Obituary

Dr. Andrew E. Painter, 96, passed away on August 9, 2025. He was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Andy graduated from the University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis, TN. After graduating from medical school, he served in the U. S. Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, he practiced family medicine for over 60 years in the bootheel of Missouri along with his brother Dr. L.B. Painter in Portageville, MO. Dr. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Lattie and Florence Painter, one brother, L.B. Painter, two nephews, Charlie R. "Skipper" Ashford, III, John Painter, and one niece, Karen Painter. Survived by his sister Emmiline Ashford, three nephews, Andrew Knox Ashford (Elizabeth), Jonathan David Ashford (Angela), Jim Painter (Rose), one niece, Nancy Richmond (Brad) and multiple great nieces and nephews, including, Knox Ashford (Rachel), Eli Ashford, Anna Ashford, Kenzie Ashford, Brennen Ashford (Macy), Lea Ashford, Charlee Ashford. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Nancy and Jim, I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Andy. I had so much respect for him and the care he gave my parents. He´s been truly missed in our little town. Prayers for your family.
