Audrey Hill Obituary

Audrey Kathy Cannon Hill, born February 25, 1952 in Columbia, TN to Dr. Joe Cannon and Nell "Honey" Cannon, and the oldest of three children, passed away on May 25, 2024. She was a member of the class of 1970 at White Station High School where she met her high school sweetheart and husband of 49 years, Charlie Hill. After high school, Kathy graduated from Ole Miss where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority and was an SAE little sister. Kathy majored in Early Elementary Education which led to her lifelong passion of teaching young children. Charlie and Kathy married in 1975 and had three daughters much to her delight. She enjoyed volunteering with the Junior League of Memphis while her children were young. Kathy spent over 20 years teaching elementary school students at PDS and Hutchison where everyone wanted to be in "Mrs. Hill's Class!" Known by her six grandchildren as "Chatty", she never met a stranger as she could strike up a conversation with anyone. Kathy had a gift of making everyone that she met feel special. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Joe Louis Cannon, Sr., her brother, Joe Louis Cannon, Jr. and her daughter, Cannon. In addition to Charlie, she is survived by her mother Honey Cannon, daughters Corinne (Clint) of Starkville, MS, Leslie (Will) of Memphis, sister Leslie (Mark) of Little Rock and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 am Wednesday May 29, 2024 at Church of the Holy Communion with the service to follow at 10:30. Private family burial will be in Canton City Cemetery in Canton, Mississippi.

Dear Charlie and family,

So sorry to read this today. She was one of the sweetest classmates that stood out in a class of over 500 students. Hopefully all the wonderful memories will rise and help alleviate your thoughts.

I was saddened and shocked to learn about Kathy. She was the first person who befriended me when I started teaching at PDS. She mentored me during my first year teaching, living in Memphis, and adjusting to the nuances of the school. We became quick and loyal friends and walked through many life experiences together. Then life took us in different directions, and we lost touch. Her energy, laughter, sense of humor, and love of family will always be beautiful memories for me. Rest in peace, dear friend.
