Billy Proctor Obituary

Billy Proctor was born March 29, 1941, in Benton County, Mississippi. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with family. Billy was married to the love of his life, Carla Williamson Proctor, for sixty-three years. Together they shared four children: Michael Proctor of Nashville, TN; Tracy (Gary) Hooper of Hernando, MS; Christy McNeese of Southaven, MS; Matthew (Ashley) Proctor of Southaven, also Dwayne Proctor of Chattanooga, TN. He also leaves eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Amelia Proctor, and his son-in-law, Kevin T. McNeese. Billy graduated from Mississippi State in 1962, and he remained an avid fan of the bulldogs throughout his life. Among his hobbies was photography, where he used his talent to take wedding photos for friends and family. When he was not taking photos, he and Carla spent time traveling to many places all over the world. Billy retired from Terminix International, where he worked for many years in both the Tax Division and Internal Auditing. Billy was a faithful member of Getwell Church where he served and participated in several different ministries. The Men's Prayer Group and Sonrise Men's Group were particularly special to Billy. A visitation will be held Monday, September 29, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, with the service following at 11:30 AM. Both the visitation and service will be held at Getwell Church, 7875 Getwell Road, Southaven, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Getwell Church Endowment Fund, Together Ministries, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Billy was a pleasure to work with; he always had a smile on his face. His sense of humor and encouraging words will be missed.

Miss Carla, I am heart-broken to read of Billy's passing. I had known "of" Billy for over 40 years from the Cook/Terminix family, but only really got to know him in the past 3 years. I am so grateful for that time with him. He was that rare creature - a good man. Whenever I saw him he always had a smile and a great story to tell of the "old days" at Cook Enterprises and Terminix. I will miss him.

Billy, I´m sorry to see you leave your earthly home. I rejoice in your Heavenly upgrade. Just as you did as a loving husband, father and provider, you go ahead and prepare the way for family who will join you later. Thank you for being my bonus dad. I think Christy and I turned out pretty amazing. And yes, I´ve still been a bonus family member longer than Matt has been alive!
