Brandon Cox Obituary

Brandon Lavoncheck Cox (affectionately known as Moochie Gremlin, Big Baby), 39, was born January 30, 1986 to the late Gary Lee Cox and Shirley Ann Malone in Memphis, TN. Brandon was a gentle giant...Big in stature, soft of heart. Brandon loved wrestling, watching tv, being helpful...specifically helping his Mama cook (especially blueberry cheesecake), cleaning up, taking out the trash, and making sure that the dogs had food to eat. Brandon was nonverbal autistic but spoke volumes with his mannerisms and facial expressions. Everything had its own place. If your dish wasn't immediately taken to the kitchen after eating, he'd look at you upside your head and take it to the kitchen. He loved to hold babies and pat their backs for about 10-15 seconds before he was handing your baby back to you. His nieces and nephews made a point to sit or stand in front of the tv he was watching just so he would lift them quickly and way up high to move them out of his line of sight. They would laugh heartily, and he would chuckle at their antics. A few times, there were male family members who attempted to play wrestle with him. Let's just say they didn't choose to do that again as walls, feelings and bodies were hurt in these very sad attempts that were highly entertaining. His was a life of love, service, giving, and protection of his nieces, nephews, and little cousins. Brandon was preceded in death by the following: his father, Gary Lee Cox: his brother, Quentin Wendell Malone: grandparents, Richard and Ruby Malone: his uncle, Leonard Wayne Malone, and his cousin, Samantha Prentiss Payne. Brandon leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Shirley Ann Malone: two siblings, Tracy McCoy Smith (Kenneth Stokes) and Richard Kingsley Payne (Kristal Washington): two uncles, Michael and Terry Malone: one aunt, Glennie Malone. Brandon was abundantly blessed with three close first cousins: Nelyn Thornton, Perrion Thornton (Michelle) and Tianna Erving Hall (Derek), eleven nieces and nephews along with a host of cousins and other family and friends.
