Cathy Edwards Jones, age 78, resident of Rossville, Tennessee and wife of the late William Wallace “Bill” Jones, Jr., departed this life Sunday afternoon, February 16, 2025 at her home.
Cathy was born December 14, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee the daughter of the late J.L. Edwards, Jr. and Sarah Winchester Edwards. She graduated from Memphis Technical High School and was married in 1972 to William Wallace “Bill” Jones, Jr. who preceded her in death. She was employed as a beautician, secretary, a private investigator and was the co-owner of East Memphis Maintenance, Inc. before her retirement.
Mrs. Jones loved the Lord and will be remembered for being a loving wife, mother, homemaker and faithful servant to Christ. She enjoyed helping people and animals, enjoyed on-line shopping and dearly loved her family and children. She was known for her genuine kindness and generosity, selflessness and big heart. She will also be remembered for her great sense of humor and her love for laughter.
Mrs. Jones is survived by four daughters, Khristy Meador Savage Wiggins of Bartlett, TN, Julie Meador of Rossville, TN, Link Meador Ellis (Wayne) of Somerville, TN and Kathryn LeeAnn Jones (Bernard) of Rossville, TN; two stepsons, Scott Jones (Penny) of Collierville and Rick Jones (Wendy) of Arrington, TN; twelve grandchildren, Amber Hamilton, Alex Prothro, Brittany Savage, Brad Savage, Jr., William Meador, Sarah Layne Ellis Young, Luke Ellis, Nathan Jones, Cammie Cavette, Abigail Jones Peppers, Anna Jones Workman and John Richard Jones, Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren; and her beloved rescue dogs, Dreamer, Callie Girl, Lola, Rosie, Snowball and Lucy.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Edwards Kidd.
A private funeral service for Mrs. Jones was held at 1 P.M. Friday, February 21, 2025 at Hickory Withe Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Biter officiating. Interment followed in Fisherville Cemetery in the Fisherville Community.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Wayne Ellis, Bernard Jones, Luke Ellis, Alex Prothro, William Meador and Brad Savage, Jr.
