Christine O’Grady Obituary
Christine Marie O'Grady
October 19,1946- November 21,2024
Chris was born in Memphis, Tn and attended Wells Station elementary school, Kingsbury middle and Graduated Kingsbury high school. She worked at Goldsmiths downtown in jewelry. She also helped with the amazing Enchanted Forest when it began and loved it. Thats where she learned to decorate and make bows and ribbons. Thats where she began her love for arts and crafts. During high school she learned to sew to which we had so many outfits that she made us. She could sew anything and did because we couldn't afford a-lot of clothes. She began macrame and would do plant hangers as gifts every year. She learned to crochet, and everyone received a blanket, potholder, towel holder, or wash clothes. She began a love for plants, especially African violets. She always had a gift for making the perfect soil to grow plants.
Michael O'Grady was born in February of 1969. Kimberly Hepburn was born in September of 1973. She supported each of our activities to the fullest. Always volunteering for fund raisers, field trips, arts and crafts just to be close to each of us.
Chris started working at the bank as a teller working at Union Planters and United American and remained working at the bank retiring as a loan officer at FedEx Employees Credit Association.
Our family started attending Living Word Lutheran Church, to which she still remained a member.
During those times she had 3 grandchildren that were the love of her life. Eoghan Lee Hepburn, Arin James Hepburn, and Kate O'Grady. She had 2 dogs, Sam and Maggie Mae which helped guard them as they all grew up. She was very supportive and attended every sporting event for the boys. They nicknamed her Geema, to which everyone called her that. All of their friends knew and called her Geema. Alex Glover, our third child, was a neighbor that made his way into our lives and has continued to be today. Alex and Taylor had Bryson and Tatum whom she enjoyed her time watching them grow and reminisce about the kids growing up.
Kate is into horses and is very busy with caring and handling her horses, but mom would keep up with her as much as she could from a distance. She has a brother Don Munn that she would keep up with and all the new things he would find on his land in California. Her niece Mary Munn Torres kept her updated on his health and how he was doing. Over the years they spoke and reminisced over all the things in the past and enjoyed their talks.
She retired from banking and enjoyed relaxing and getting into more projects. She attended Bellevue Baptist for a time and joined the garden club. She had her classmates from the bible class to join and learn everything about plants. She always had a green thumb. When she didn't work with live plants, she was known for making artificial wreaths and flower arrangements for anyone and any occasion.
She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest. She never met a stranger and would lift a hand to help in any way she could. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and prayed daily. Even though her diabetes became worse, she fought hard to keep it under control. She came to live with me in 2020 after her first illness and remained in my care.
Christine Marie O'Grady was preceded in death by Leland Munn and Thelma Munn her parents. She is survived by Michael K O'Grady (Katie) Kate O'Grady, Kimberly R Hepburn (Wayne) Eoghan Hepburn and Arin Hepburn. Her brother Don Munn, William Munn (Tricia) Natalie, Nicole, and Britany and Mary Munn Torres (Fernando) Breanna and Matthew. And some cousins.
Family and friends will gather Saturday, December 7 beginning at one o'clock in the afternoon until funeral services begin at two o'clock in the afternoon all in the Arlington Suite of Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133. Burial will immediately follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Diabetic Association in honor of mom. She would love for her memory to live on through research to help someone overcome this disease.
"The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace."
