Craig Alan Ekberg, age 64, of Bartlett, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on the evening of September 15, 2025, surrounded by his children.
Born on May 7, 1961, in Rockford, Illinois, to James Ekberg and Anna M. Liatto (Ekberg), Craig lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a generous spirit. For many years, he worked as a superintendent at Wagner, where his skill and pride in craftsmanship could be seen in countless projects. He was a talented carpenter who loved to point out the buildings he had worked on, proudly saying, “I did that.”
Craig found his greatest joy in time spent with his children and grandchildren. He loved teaching them how to use tools, working on cars and bikes, building projects, and encouraging every creative idea. Many evenings were spent in the garage or shop, where he not only passed along his skills but also shared stories of his life. He treasured their artwork, their projects, and their company more than anything. If you had an idea, Craig was your biggest supporter, always ready to help you make it happen.
A country boy at heart, Craig enjoyed good times around a fire with family and friends, riding his Harley into the countryside, shooting guns with his children and friends, fishing, shooting pool, and playing darts. He was as tough as he was kind, always willing to lend a hand, offer a place to stay, or give the shirt off his back to someone in need. Steady and hardworking, Craig never panicked—he always knew what to do. If you fell, he was there to catch you.
Craig is survived by his children, Caitlyn Ekberg (Danny Logan), Chase Ekberg, Casey Glass, and Cara Ekberg; his grandchildren, Kane, Hunter, McKenna, Easton, Ayden, Liam, Anna, and Tyler; his sisters, Stephanie Jackson, Andrea Johnson (Brian), Tammy Matthews (Sid); and his brother, James Ekberg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Ekberg and Anna Liatto Ekberg, and his sister, Laurie Walters.
A visitation for Mr. Ekberg will be Saturday, September 27th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. A memorial service for Mr. Ekberg will follow at 12 noon, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment will be private.
