David Jones Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Boyd Jones Sr, who left this world on March 1, 2025, at the age of 71. He leaves a legacy of kindness, wisdom, and love that will forever be cherished. Born on April 7, 1953, in Somerville, TN, David lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, and devotion to his family. He was a devoted husband to Katherine "Kathy" Reno Jones for 27 years, a loving father to David Jones Jr. (Elizabeth Jones), Andy Jones (Beth Robbins), step-father to Melissa Stanley, the proud grandfather of Lauren Hampton, Dylan Stanley, David "Trey" Jones III (Hannah Jones), Luke Jones, and Ruby Jones, and honored great-grandfather to Mila Jones. His love extended beyond his family, touching the lives of all who knew him with his generosity and warm spirit. A man of many talents, David found joy in fishing, sneaking a sweet treat, working on cars, or being a member of Al Chymia Shriners Hospital. Whether he was tending to the lake house, sharing stories from his past, or cheering on the Titans he embraced life with a full heart. David was an avid outdoorsman and spent most of his time at his home on Grand Valley Lake, where he enjoyed little more than taking his family and friends on a "once around" the water. He was a mentor, a storyteller, and a pillar of strength, always ready with wise advice or a reassuring smile. Above all else, he loved the Lord and would reminisce on his childhood spent in church with "Grandma Jones." David was not only a devoted family man but also a passionate entrepreneur. He founded Jones Automotive in 1972, turning a small idea into a thriving business that has served the community for 52 years. Through his vision, determination, and hard work, he built more than just a company-he created a legacy that will continue for generations to come. His dedication to his craft and commitment to excellence made Jones Automotive a cornerstone of the Germantown community, and he took immense pride in working alongside his family. He loved passing down his knowledge, teaching the value of hard work, and ensuring that his life's work would live on. His family will continue to honor his memory by carrying forward his passion and the business he built with such love and dedication. Above all, he cherished his family. His home was always filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of his attempt at grilling steaks and ribs. Holidays and gatherings will never be the same without his warmth, humor, and the twinkle in his eye as he watched his loved ones come together. David is survived by his sons, David (Liz) and Andy (Beth), their mother, Deborah Walker, step-daughter Melissa, grand-children Lauren, Trey (Hannah), Dylan, Luke, and Ruby, great-grandchild Mila. Brothers, Johnny, and Jerry (Jean), sisters-in-law Matilda and Diane, and brother-in-law Eddie (Jackie). He is now reunited with his parents, John Edwin Jones and Ruby Kennedy Cozart (Buddy Cozart), his wife, Kathy Jones, his brothers, MacDouglas (Diane), Lloyd (Ann), and James Jones, and his sister-in-law Leona, who we know welcomed him with open arms. A celebration of his life will be held on March 15, 2025, at The Great Hall in Germantown, TN from 2 - 5 pm. Friends and family are invited to gather to share memories and honor the incredible life he lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children in his memory. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his love, wisdom, and legacy will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Dad/Papa Jones/Pop Pop. You were deeply loved and will never be forgotten.

David was a fixture in the Germantown community always providing a top grade service to all of his customers. My mother would always take her car to David knowing he was honest and provided great service.

Sad to hear of David's passing. Appreciated him so much over the many years we interacted in his business. A wonderful conversationalist and encourager of many. Blessings especially to David Jr. and Trey.
