Dave, I'll take a little license to write some things about you that I have cherished for decades. That polaroid of you with a huge smile wrapping your arm around Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy's, juxtaposed his face contorted in disgust. It was a confirmation that we had the same absurd sense of humor. You posted the polaroid of me wearing the flower hat next to it on your refrigerator. That made me happy.
I always enjoyed when you would come home from fishing and we would cook trout on your stove... because I only had enough money for a refrigerator. You taught me how to take care of a cast iron skillet.
Even after Rex died, we laughed all the way to the end about Rex barking at the UPS driver. It always cracked you up when I recounted the story of taking Rex to practice and the Vanderbilt men's rugby team yelling at him to, "Shut Up!"
I had the fortune to work with you on some film shoots and you would visit me at DR&A in the midst of a lonely work day - that always raised my spirits.
I'll never forget the night you brought Sandy home.
Even though that blue tick coonhound drove us nuts, we woke the neighborhood up at 5:30 am on recycling days on Woodlawn. It was most definitely a "Jim Dandy Day."
My happiest times with you were walking with the dogs behind the cabins at camp and encouraging the dogs to tree squirrels. You made going on errands in Maine and NH an exciting adventure.
We never opened the B&B in Maine or Tennessee - things worked out for the best for us, though.
I try to tell the story of Jeff, Junior, Henry, Ty, Tim Bess, Gove, Dariush and the other characters from Nashville. It doesn't feel the same as it did when we reminisced, plus I'm a terrible story teller and you would love at the stories before I could even finish them, because we had the same sense of humor and extolled the preposterousness and absurdity of life.
I miss you loads, Dave.

David was not only a true film professional, but a caring exceptionally unique character. He had a very special place in this world that can not be filled by another. May he continue his callings in the next world.

Memphis bands like ours were fortunate to have David create well-crafted videos for them back in the early 1990s. He was a kind and supportive person to everyone in our scene and to his later farming community in Middle Tennessee. He will certainly be missed.

David will always have a special place in my heart. On our first date he brought me buttercups in a mason jar. I love you David and I will never forget you ❤

We worked with David many moons ago, and often thought how lucky he was to move to the country, living the life! He blessed so many with his open arms & caring nature.
