David Sczepanski Sr. Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Richard Sczepanski Sr., age 82, of Germantown, TN, who left this world on August 19, 2025, in Memphis, TN, with his loving wife Tonna by his side. David was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 3, 1943, and was a proud graduate of Hazelwood East High School.

David had a long and successful career as a salesman for Nordson Industries. His professional journey took him on extensive work-related travel, which sparked his curiosity about how things worked, fueling his lifelong passion for learning.

In 1967, David married Adrienne Pierce, and they shared a loving partnership for 25 years until her passing in 1992. He later found love again and married Tonna Rigsbee Bruce in 1994, with whom he enjoyed 31 wonderful years of marriage.

After retiring, David embraced his passion for caring for horses and other animals, becoming an active member of the Nashoba Carriage Club. He is lovingly remembered for his culinary skills and the warmth he brought to gatherings. A fortunate few will remember his remarkable singing talent, particularly his powerful rendition of "Ave Maria," which resonated deeply.

Affectionately known as PopPop by his family, David possessed a strong and commanding presence. Beneath that exterior was a sensitive heart—he cared deeply for his family and was attuned to the needs of others, often finding solutions that went unnoticed.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Tonna; daughters Mary Sczepanski of St. Louis, MO, and Gina Glover of Jonesboro, AR; sons David (Marcia) Sczepanski Jr. of Fulton, MO, William "Bill" (Amanda) Sczepanski of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Gail) Bruce of Memphis, TN, and Travis (Karen) Bruce of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by his sisters Irene and Vicki Sczepanski of St. Louis, MO, along with 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first spouse, Adrienne (Pierce) Sczepanski, his parents William "Bill" and Genevieve "Gen" Sczepanski, and other cherished family members.

There will be a private family gathering in David's honor.

In memory of David's compassionate spirit, the family suggests that contributions be made to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen, located at 155 Market St., Memphis, TN 38105.

David's legacy of love, curiosity, and care will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him.
