Don Wright Obituary

Don Wayne Wright, age 77, of Memphis, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021. Don was born on March 26, 1944, in Crockett Mills, TN. He retired from the Shelby County Sheriff's Office in 2002 as Chief Deputy after 36 years of service. After retirement in 2002, Don helped create the FedEx Air Carrier Police, where he served as its First Chief until 2008. Don was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister. Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Wright, his children; Tim Wright (Teresa), Scott Wright (Janie Jo), Tracie Tilley, eight grandchildren; Gaby Kuhl (Seth), Erica, Nicole Barber (Cody), Stephen, Austin, Anna Caroline, Andrew, Eli, and four great-grandchildren; AnnElyse, Ella, Ryder, and Bristol.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm, on Monday, April 19, 2021, with a funeral service at 2 pm, on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church, 3755 N Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Memphis Union Mission or the Salvation Army.
