Donald Pritchard Obituary

Donald Lee Pritchard, age 89, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Baptist Hospital Memphis with family by his side.

He was born March 5, 1935, in Huntington, TN to parents Loyd Neal Pritchard and Iva Murphy Pritchard. The family moved to Memphis where Don attended Fairview Junior High and Central High School. He graduated from Memphis State University in 1957, where he was President of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and President of Memphis State Student Government Association, as well as a cheerleader. Those who knew him in his adult years will not be surprised to learn this about him because of his encouraging and uplifting spirit. On June 20, 1964, he married Ann Norfleet at First Baptist Church in Senatobia, MS. He was a Vice President with Holiday Inn where he set up the systemwide reservations offices with locations throughout the country. Then he became a franchisee of Taco Bell until his retirement in 2000. His friendly demeanor was an asset in all his endeavors. Golf was a favorite pastime, and he especially enjoyed playing with his son, brothers, and friends Billy Griesbeck and Harvey Dice.

Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Loyd and Marvin. Survivors include his wife of 59 years Ann, son David (Erin), daughter Leigh Ann (Chris) and beloved grandchildren Sarah Grace Youngblood (Tucker) and Thomas Rogers. He also leaves his sister-in-law Kay Daniel, niece Jennifer Daniel Parker, nephew Ben Daniel (Elizabeth), and niece Kim Pritchard Gladden (Barry) as well as numerous cousins and friends that were dear to him.

Services will be Wednesday, April 3rd with Visitation at 1:00 and Memorial at 2:00, both at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119.

Memorials may be sent to Balmoral Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
