Donna Tatum Obituary

Donna Rice Tatum was born on July 9, 1961, to Norma and James Rice. She was the sister to two older brothers: Gary and Robin Rice. Donna developed an unbreakable bond with Mike Tatum and the two married on November 19, 1982. They share a son and daughter: James and Jessica Tatum.

Donna cherished her husband and two children deeply. She took pride in her family and made sure family time was always a part of their day to day lives. Donna was very involved in every school and sporting event that her children took part in. You would not see James or Jessica reach a finish line, academically or athletically, without their mother there rooting them on. Donna ensured that she, her husband, and her children always had a tight knit relationship. From vacations to sports games, to holidays, to dinners, Donna made sure family time was vital.

She was an exceptionally selfless individual. Donna was very close to the Lord and accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age. She treasured her times at church and reading The Bible. She felt gratitude in serving others and making sure everyone around her was smiling and taken care of. Donna will always be remembered as an outstanding friend and family member who everyone could depend on. She would go above and beyond just to make sure others were happy; that is what gave her the greatest joy.

Representing in blue and gray, Donna loved to support the Memphis Tigers basketball and football teams. Very into sports, she also greatly enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys with her family. Disney World vacations were one of the annual highlights of her time with her husband and children. Musically inclined, Donna was gifted with the ability to play the piano beautifully. It also brought her tranquility and comfort in her free time. She enjoyed reading various books and hiking. Anything that involved family, was a hobby of Donna's.

Donna had inspirational determination and strength. After a tremendous journey, she passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. She is reunited with her mother, father, and brother, Robin, in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Although Donna has transitioned, her memories will last forever. Until we meet again.

The family will receive friends on Sunday November 14 from 2-4 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Family Funeral Care.
