Elizabeth Cunningham Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Cunningham of Bartlett, Tennessee went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Ms. Cunningham was born on October 31, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Peabody Elementary School, a 1957 graduate of Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and The University of Memphis. Ms. Cunningham was an active member of Rivercrest Baptist Church in Bartlett, Tennessee, and a retired educator from Bartlett High School. During her time in education Ms. Cunningham served as a curriculum writer, publisher of The Pantheon, and sponsor of the writing club. Elizabeth loved reading, writing, flowers, and being outdoors. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. Elizabeth is survived by her children Leslie Northam (Brian), James Pugh (Candice), Matthew Pugh (Pamela); 10 grandchildren, Rachel Northam (Laura), Hannah Dixon (Alden), James Pugh Jr., (Emily), Dianna Cantrell (Christian), Abigail Martin (Daniel), Jonathan Pugh (Tori), Noah Pugh (Elizabeth), Brandon Johnson, Matthew Pugh Jr. (Hailey), Jacob Pugh (Molly), as well 12 great-children. She was preceded in death by her parents John Lemuel Cunningham and Francis Victoria Abercrombie Cunningham, and her sister Sue Cunningham Vaughn. A visitation for Elizabeth will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with a service starting at 2:00 pm followed by a graveside committal at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133.
