Gordon Walter Edwards, Jr., age 75, resident of Whiteville, Tennessee, and former resident of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, departed this life Friday morning, June 12, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Gordon was born November 16, 1944, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Gordon Walter Edwards, Sr. and Rose Marie Grimmett Edwards. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma with his Juris Doctor degree and pledged to the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Gordon served his country in the United States Army and was a lawyer for many years before his retirement in 2018. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Military Order of the Stars and Bars and was a Freemason. He was an avid reader who loved spending time with his two dogs, Cleburne and Sissy.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his son, Matthew Edwards, and his wife, Debra Joan Edwards of Whiteville, TN, and two grandchildren, Rose Lauren Edwards and Matthew Crawford Edwards, Jr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Caroline McQuillon, and his brother, John Edwards.
