John Eddie Griggs, Jr. was born on August 6, 1965, in Moscow, Tennessee to Lucillie Griggs and John E. Griggs, Sr.

Junior received his high school diploma from Fayette Ware High School in Somerville, TN. He was gainfully employed at Schneider Trucking Company as a truck driver until he made the decision to pursue his dream of becoming an independent truck owner/ operator of JDR Trucking Company.

Junior accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an earlier age and served faithfully for many years as an usher at Springhill Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Eddie Walton.

Junior suddenly departed this life on Saturday, August 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his Father; sister, Jeraldine Hunt; and brother, Willie Griggs.

Junior's love and dedication for his family was unwavering. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his mother, Lucillie Griggs; his wife Debra Griggs; two sons, Antoine Sales (Calizza), and Gerald Sales (Atiya); one sister, Carolyn (Walter) Bonner; two brothers, Jo Lee Griggs, Christopher Griggs all from Moscow TN; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Duncan of Collierville TN, Doretha Hurt of Memphis, TN; three brothers-in-law, George Hurt of Rossville, TN, Reginald Hurt of Sarasota, FL and Andrea (Robin) Hurt of Oakland, TN; two special brothers, Jerome (Beverly) and Michael (Nichole); one godson Maro; three goddaughters, Shawanna, Caritta, and Melissa; eight grandchildren; and a host of precious nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at H.C. Jett-H.C. Ford Funeral Home, 203 Washington St., Collierville, TN 38017. Funeral Service Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Walking by Faith Ministries, 6300 Highway 57, Rossville, TN 38066. Interment in Sims Chapel M.B. Church Cemetery, 293 Sims Rd., Michigan City, Mississippi.
