Lonnie Coleman Obituary

Lonnie William Coleman, Sr. was born in Slayden, MS on May 5, 1960 to the late Hammer Chairs and Nancy Coleman. He went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Lonnie attended Sand Flat High School and was a Class of 1978 graduate of Southaven High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1978, retiring in 2002. He then worked as a JROTC instructor in several Memphis high schools until his retirement in 2022. He furthered his education at Bethel University, earning his Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration. He accepted Christ at an early age at Isom Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, MS. He was appointed a deacon at Agape COGIC in Leesville, LA, a minister at Calvary Deliverance COGIC in Anchorage, AK, and Elder at St. Luke COGIC in Olive Branch, MS. He was appointed Pastor in 2020. Lonnie leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 45 years, Cathlean Coleman of Olive Branch, MS; two sons: Lonnie Coleman Jr. (Seung Ju) of Blue Springs, MO, Christopher Coleman of Memphis, TN; one daughter: Shantae Coleman of Nashville, TN; six sisters: Deloris Stephens and Alice Anderson, both of Memphis, TN, Lorine Robinson, Louise Coleman, Annie Mae Chairs, and Maxine Archbell, all of Slayden, MS; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Hammer Chairs and Nancy Coleman, and eight brothers. Serenity Funeral Home, Tel.(901)379-0861.
