Marilyn Haynes Obituary

Marilyn Lowrey Haynes passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 at her residence in Memphis TN at the age of 87.

Marilyn was born on February 24, 1938 in Bald Knob, AR. The family moved to Wynne, AR where she graduated as a member of the Wynne High School Class of 1956. Marilyn moved to Memphis, where she spent her entire adult life and career, but returned often to Wynne to visit her parents, her sister and her many dear friends.

Professionally, Marilyn was a top-notch salesperson for over 40 years with Taylor Impressions, a printing equipment and supply company in Memphis, where she was awarded top salesperson of the year numerous times. Marilyn was an avid sports enthusiast. She loved fishing and hunting, where she was known an exceptional marksman. Marilyn absolutely loved watching all kinds of sports in person and on TV, especially when her favorite Arkansas Razorbacks were playing. She was a true Hog Fan! Marilyn was a generous person and who had great sense of humor. She will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Slim and Hazel Lowrey and her sister and brother-in-law, Thelda Barker and Ben Barker. She is survived by her many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Odell McCallum Community Center in Wynne, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, or any charity of choice.

I am a second grade teacher at Wynne Primary School. I began my teaching career with one of my mentors Mrs. Thelda Barker, Mrs. Haynes sister. Mr. Odell McCallum was our principal. Mrs. Barker always talked fondly of her sister Marilyn. Mr. McCallum, Mrs. Barker, and Mrs. Haynes remained life long friends. On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Odell McCallum Center in Wynne, AR, of which I am a member, the Board expresses its deepest sympathy to the family of Marilyn Haynes in the loss of your loved one. We appreciate the faithful support Mrs. Haynes has given to the community center down through years.
