Marilyn Kirkpatrick Obituary

Marilyn Elizabeth Wood Kirkpatrick was born May 26,1935 in Morrilton, Arkansas. On March 1, 2025, She passed peacefully from her home with her family present as was her wish. Marilyn was the only child to Elizabeth and Powell Wood but grew up in a large family of cousins and Aunts and Uncles. Her father was a WWII veteran who served as a Navy See Bee in the Pacific theatre which led her mother and she to live in California for a while. She was always proud of her father's military service and enjoyed watching WWII movies. She returned to Arkansas after the war and graduated from high school early. She attended college at Arkansas State Teachers in Conway, Arkansas. She met her husband, Ronald Lee Kirkpatrick, on a bind date in the summer after her first year of college, and they married shortly after. Marilyn was married to Ron for over 70 years. They have 4 children: Karen Kirkpatrick of Atlanta, GA; Ronald Powell Kirkpatrick of Atlanta, GA; Anne Kirkpatrick of New Orleans, LA; and Allen Kirkpatrick of Memphis, TN. Marilyn had a special love and bond for her granddaughter, Rachel Kirkpatrick Clopton of Atlanta, GA. She was a wonderful homemaker, a volunteer throughout her life, and she was active in Bible Study Fellowship, she also loved to needle point. She loved her Lord, her husband, and her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 (901) 767-8930. "Where Memphis comes to remember, since 1924."
