Mary Frances Mensi Obituary
She was born on November 9, 1928, in Memphis, TN. She attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, graduated from Sacred Heart High School, and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing.
Mary Frances began her career in Memphis as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital from 1949-1951. She was employed as a Pediatric Nurse for George L. Lovejoy, MD from 1951-1963. She left her nursing career in 1963 where she and her husband opened and operated Mensi's Dairy Bar in Collierville, until their retirement in 1986. She was a founding member of the Catholic Church of the Incarnation in Collierville where she was an active participant for many years.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Dewey Para and Mary Koch Para, and her loving husband of 54 years, Frank John Mensi.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie Mensi Paccasassi (Mike) and Jeanie Mensi Smith (Mark), two grandchildren, Katherine Marie Smith Bouchon (Michael) and Andrew James Smith and two great-grandchildren Charles Michael Bouchon and Claire Marie Bouchon. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Marie Bertasi.
Visitation will be at the Catholic Church of the Incarnation, 360 Bray Station Rd, Collierville, TN on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 10 a.m., with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. (901)767-8930.

The one lovely memory I have of Mary Frances is when she attended my daughter-in-law´s (Della) baby shower. We played a game choosing different lengths of twine to determine the circumference of her tummy at 6 months. Her commentary was hilarious as she attempted to apply the scientific method to her guesstimation. She left all of us in stitches when she finally threw the twisted string down around her ankles and declared, "I liked the game with the toilet paper much better."
