Michael Glenn Obituary

Michael George Glenn, 84, was ushered into heaven on December 6, 2024 lovingly surrounded by his wife, four daughters, their husbands, and families. Son of Mary Helen (Cunningham) and Robert E. Glenn, he was born on December 9, 1939 in Lawson, Missouri. He graduated from Lawson High School in 1958 and followed his brothers' footsteps, proudly serving in the United States Coast Guard from 1958 to 1962. He had an unwavering love of God and Country that he instilled in his children and grandchildren. While in the Coast Guard he was introduced to Mary Jane Crews on a blind date in San Diego, CA. He proposed on Christmas Eve 1962 and they were married March 20, 1963 in Independence, MO. They both enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Mike's long career in home health services began in 1968 in Chicago, IL with Puritan Bennett. He excelled in every area of the business and soon earned the opportunity to become an assistant manager, manager, Vice President and then owner of Home Health services across Kansas City, MO, Springfield, MO, and Memphis, TN. In Memphis he was the General Manager of Glassrock Home Health Care, Regional Vice President of Mid-South Home Health and Staffing, Senior Vice President of Health Care Operations for Medshares, Inc, then ultimately purchased Home Choice Health Services in 1998. He continued with consulting and investing in the home health industry until his death. He strived to succeed and provide for his family in every business venture while making sure everyone knew that his greatest joy was being married to Jane, raising his four girls, loving on his entire extended family while also being a true friend to all. Our dad had a special charm about him and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He greeted everyone with a smile and genuinely wanted to know how you were doing and what he could do to help. He and our mom were inseparable partners through every aspect of their lives. All that they did was driven by their love of family, which was apparent and admired by all. We will forever remember his big smile, hearty laugh, the feel of his warm embrace, and his words of encouragement. He was a beautiful example of what it meant to be Christ's hands and feet on earth. We strive to carry on his legacy of showing authentic love and compassion to all. He truly touched the hearts of so many people throughout his life. He was preceded into heaven by his parents, father-in-law Glen Crews and mother-in-law Lois (Cline) Crews of Branson, MO; sister Betty Ann Hill and husband Keith of Lawson, MO; brother Robert Edwin Glenn and wife Gloria of Pomfret, CT; brother John David Glenn and wife Doris of Trumbull, CT; beloved brother-in-law Bobby VanPelt of Grandview, MO: son-in-law Zane Howard of Memphis, TN; and sister-in-law Carol Dehart of Hollister, MO. He is survived by his beloved wife Jane of Germantown, TN; sister Patricia Susan (Glenn) VanPelt of Grandview, MO; daughter Sandra Coy of Lenexa, KS and husband Dan; daughter Kathy Howard Yoakum of Memphis, TN and husband Barry; daughter Amy Heilmann of Collierville, TN and husband Carmon; daughter Laurie Pennington of Germantown, TN and husband Jeff. Grandchildren include Michael (Ella) Coy, Erin (Lane) Osborn, Shannan Coy, Crews Howard Yoakum, Rudi Heilmann, Abbey Heilmann, Alex (Matt) Littlejohn, Matthew Pennington, Avery Pennington, and Natalie Pennington. Great-grandchildren include Rosalie Coy, Elizabeth Coy, and Claire Osborn as well as many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, December 17th at Harvest Church, Germantown, TN, at 12 p.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Samaritan's Purse (https://samaritanspurse.org/) or The Forsaken Children (https://www.theforsakenchildren.org/give) in memory of Michael.

Jimmie, Jamie and I will always remember "Mr. Glenn" being the best babysitter Jamie ever had! And Jimmie will never forget "Big Mike" and all the fun times they had golfing, having lunches and just hanging out solving the world's problems! And, I remember the plane ride from Memphis to Fayetteville and we definitely solved many world's problems!
A wonderful person whom we will miss even though we couldn't see near as often as we would like...but, we will see you again!!!
