Myrna Deloris Witter Parker, age 72, resident of Rossville, Tennessee and wife of Benny Parker, departed this life Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Myrna was born September 7, 1952 in Westfield, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Donald Jack Witter and Mary Elizabeth Lane Witter. She graduated from Messick High School in 1970 and from Memphis State University in 1974 with a major in elementary education and in 2003 with her master’s degree in education. Myrna was a teacher and counselor for the Memphis City School System before her retirement in 2010 after 35 years of teaching.
Myrna was married April 11, 2009 to Benny Parker of Forrest City, Arkansas. She was a member of Pleasants Christian Church in Rossville, Tennessee and enjoyed going to yard sales, golfing with her husband, spending time with her family and being involved in her church and community.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband, Benny Parker; her daughter, Marian Franklin (Shun Taylor) of Collierville, TN; her son, Christopher Franklin (Amber) of Arlington, TN; her stepdaughter, Libby Byrd (Keith) of Russellville, AR; her sister, Diana Clayton (Clay) of Rossville, TN; two brothers, Robin Witter (Kathy) of Rossville, TN and Alan Witter of Rossville, TN; three grandchildren, Madelaine Franklin of Rossville, TN, Nolan Franklin of Arlington, TN and Allie Franklin of Arlington, TN; and two step-grandchildren, Avery Byrd of Russellville, AR and Parker Byrd of Russellville, AR.
A visitation for Mrs. Parker will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Pleasants Christian Church in Rossville. Memorial Services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Pleasants Christian Church with Pastor James Weir officiating. Remarks will be given by Annice Paule.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
Honorary pallbearers will be Devin Witter, Jacob Clayton and Matthew Clayton.
