Patti Beaty Obituary

Patti Bright Weldon Beaty, 70, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on August 17, 2025, after a short illness. Patti was born on April 14, 1955, in Millington, TN, to Ethel Lee Bright and Cecil Sanders Bright. Patti accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior as a child and lived a life of service to God and others. She bravely and fearlessly chose hospice care over treatment so she could enter Glory and end years of chronic and unrelenting pain. Prior to her final years, Patti loved to have fun and enjoyed nothing more than a house full of friends and family enjoying her home-cooked food and hospitality. She loved Halloween and was known for her annual, extravagant haunted houses and parties. Her close friends were life-long friends, and she valued those relationships as much as she did her family. Her pets were a huge part of her life and were spoiled rotten. She swore they understood full sentences and never spoke to them using commands. Patti attended Millington Central Elementary School and Millington Central High School. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in Mountain Home, AR. She attended Mid-South Bible College in Memphis, TN. She earned her TN real estate and broker licenses and enjoyed a successful career of selling real estate and managing sales offices in the Memphis area. Patti is survived by her son, Corey McCain Weldon of Lafayette GA; granddaughter, Ivey Mariposa Weldon of Chattanooga TN; step-son, John James Salopek, IV of TX (wife, Colleen; children: Hannah, Ella, JJ, Fredric); stepdaughters, Elizabeth Salopek Bauer of Saratoga Springs UT (children: Samual and Sophia) and Camille Salopek Klein of Georgetown KY (husband, Michael; children: Thomas Craig, Jacob Wales, Aaron, Aidan, Arden and Vienna Klein); sister, Cynthia Bright Salem of Memphis TN (children: Adrian Salem, William Casey Duke, William Curtis Duke); brothers, Danny Sims Bright of Gautier MS (wife, Edith; children: Rodney Woodard, Melissa Gilbert Greenwald) and Michael Sanders Bright of Drummonds TN (children: Bobbie Bright Smith and Michael S Bright, Jr); niece, Andrea Bright Smith; nephew, Jeremy Daniel Bright, and her beloved pet, Bodie Beaty. She is also survived by a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husbands: Paul Loyd Weldon, John James Salopek, III and Steven Dale Beaty; brother, Larry Bultman Bright; sisters-in-law, Joyce Ann Bright and Teri Shiver Bright; nieces Melinda Lynn Gilbert, Natalie Elaine Duke and Kara Bright Conner; beloved pets: Dixie Weldon, Rocky Salopek, Maggie Salopek and Winston Beaty. There will be a celebration of Patti's full and joyful life on Sunday, September 7th, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Madonna Learning Center, 7007 Poplar Ave, Germantown, TN 38138. There will be an opportunity during this time of celebration when you are welcome to share with friends and family a brief story about Patti or her impact on your life. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Madonna Learning Center at https://www.madonna-learning.org/give-in-honor-or-memory-of-a-loved-one or by mail to 7007 Poplar Ave, Germantown, TN 38138.
