Richard P. Micheletti

1947 - 2025

Richard P. Micheletti, 78, passed away at his home on July 10, 2025. Born March 8, 1947, Richard was a lifelong Memphian, graduating from Central High School in 1964. He attended Memphis State University for a couple of years before transferring to what he referred to as "Viet Nam University," where he served in the U.S. Army.

After a long career as a small business owner, in his later years, he continued working in the education department at Idlewild Presbyterian Church and then in the Memphis Grizzlies merchandise operations at FedEx Forum.

Richard was known for his ready wit and generosity with his time – he loved to help others with tasks, small and sizable. Family was a vital part of his life. From chess to basketball and beyond, he and his grandchildren spent many happy hours playing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Geneva Micheletti, his stepmother Stella, and nephew Johnny Micheletti. He is survived by his wife, Rita Baskin Halpern, his brother Joe Micheletti (Rosemarie), daughter Emily Peyton (Cameron), stepchildren Joel Halpern (partner Lucile Meriguet) and Leslie Halpern (Eddie Colf), and seven beloved grandchildren: Allie, Rhett, Jackson, Rowan, Lola, Isaiah, and Gabriel.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 1:00 pm at Idlewild Presbyterian Church, 1750 Union Avenue. A reception will follow at The University Club, 1346 Central Avenue.
