Shirley Moore Obituary

Shirley Ann Paddison Moore passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2025, after a short illness. A lifelong Memphian, she was born on January 2, 1947, to Shirley Ann and Norwood Paddison. Shirley was a proud graduate of Central High School before attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Her deep faith was nurtured at Trinity United Methodist Church in her youth, and she later became an active and devoted member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Her commitment to Memphis was evident through her active participation in many civic and social organizations, including the Duration Club, LeBonheur Club, Les Passees, the Watauga Chapter of the DAR, and Chapter B of P.E.O. Sisterhood. Shirley lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel the world with her late husband, Jack, as well as with her family and friends. An avid sports fan, she passionately followed University of Memphis basketball and Auburn football-she loved her Tigers and rarely missed a game. Her warm smile and sharp wit will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Ann and Norwood Paddison; her beloved husband, Jack Moore; and her son, Scott Moore. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberley Moore McGrath (Reg); her daughter-in-law, Cindy Cates Moore; and her four cherished grandchildren: Isabelle and Lucy Moore, and Megan and Collin McGrath. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her long-time caregiver, Jessica Rice, and the dedicated staff at StoryPoint of Germantown for their loving care over the last four years as Shirley battled dementia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, MIFA, or a charity of your choice.
