Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Rieben, age 78, resident of Buchanan, Tennessee, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, March 4, 2025 at his home.
Tommy was born January 1, 1947 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late John Lewis Rieben, Jr. and Margie Lou Bucy Rieben. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1966 and continued his education at William R. Moore College of Technology (Moore Tech). He was a mechanic and auto body technician who was also a wood carver and sculptor. Tommy was passionate about his wood carvings and was featured in several newspaper articles. He was a Christian who enjoyed hot rod vehicles.
Mr. Rieben is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hollingsworth (Beau); his son, Thomas Wayne Rieben Simpson of Arlington, TN; his sister, Joyce Waters of Commerce, GA; and three grandchildren, Charles Destin Rieben, Corbin Thomas Hollingsworth and Kayleigh Whetzel (Michael). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Rieben and David Rieben.
Funeral Services for Mr. Rieben were held at 4 P.M. Sunday, March 9, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Robert McBroom officiating. He was assisted by Archie Bryson and remarks were given by Beau Hollingsworth. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dakota Spicer, Joshua Spicer, Troy Tomlin, Jimmy Hightower, Archie Bryson, Joseph Spicer, Michael Whetzel and Thomas Wayne Rieben Simpson.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude’s Memorial Giving, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
