Walter Mollerup Obituary

Walter Richard Mollerup, born in 1946, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Richard was an engineer at heart and a lifelong Duponter, known for his sharp mind, steady hands, and the ability to fix just about anything. Richard was married to Donna, the love of his life, for nearly 58 years, a testament to the deep and unwavering bond they shared. Together, they built a life filled with faith, family, and love. He was a devoted father to Beth Mollerup Burroway(Tim) and Jon Richard Mollerup (Lauren), and a proud grandfather to Caitlyn, Daniel, Owen, Landon, Aiden, and Ryan. Watching his grandchildren play sports brought him immeasurable joy, and he never missed a chance to cheer them on from the sidelines. Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, David Mollerup, Dale Mollerup and his parents Jane and Norman Mollerup. He leaves one brother, Jerry Mollerup(Kristiee). A devout Christian, Richard served faithfully as a deacon in the church, was a Sunday school teacher and led children's church throughout the years. He lived his faith daily, sharing the word of God with anyone who would listen and many who didn't know they needed to. He was humble, kind, and compassionate, always striving to reflect what he believed God wanted from a Christian life. Richard was a veteran who served his country with honor and carried that same sense of duty into his everyday life. He was a jack of all trades who would do anything for anyone and if he couldn't, he'd figure out a way to make it happen. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with warmth. When asked how he was doing, his signature response was always, "Great, grand, and wonderful but I'm gonna get better." An avid hunter and athlete, Richard lived a full and vibrant life. But his true passion was his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than being surrounded by his loved ones, playing games, reading books, and simply being present with them. Richard's legacy is one of faith, love, and service. His kindness, humility, and unwavering faith in God have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and the countless lives he touched. A celebration of Richard's life will be held at Forest Hill East on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 10 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Walter Richard Mollerup lived a life of quiet strength and profound love. We take comfort in knowing that he's now at peace in the arms of his Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
