William Canterbury Obituary

William Tullos Canterbury, Jr. was born in 1941 in Memphis, TN to Mary McNair Canterbury of McGee, MS and William Tullos Canterbury, Sr. of Raleigh, MS. He passed from this life on July 24, 2025 in the comfort of the Collierville Nursing and Rehab Facility in Collierville, TN. He leaves his sister, Peggy Osborn, Nephews: David Osborn (Lisa), Jacob Tandy, Nicholas Osborn (Christine), Matthew Leonard, Smith Osborn, and Nieces: Ashton Tandy (Lane), Grayson Osborn (Dylan), Leslie Tandy (Jon), Lisa Shaffer (Mitch), and Samantha Leonard.

He graduated from Southside High School in 1959. He was 18 when he enrolled into the U.S. Marines Corps and served his country from July 1960-March 1963. His discipline, patriotism and "Semper Fi" attitude prevailed throughout his life. He loved fast cars, especially his red Pontiac. Throughout his life, he worked and managed in the grocery businesses of: Big Star, Kroger, Malone and Hyde, PicPac, and Walmart. He married at 44 years old to Ruth Allene Justice for almost 19 years until her passing in 1991. At 68 years old, he married Katherine Renee Grandi in 2010, until they divorced in 2016. He loved his dogs, being with his family and supporting our nation's political campaigns. He was a very quiet, soft spoken person with a huge heart. We will all miss him dearly.
