George Haskell Obituary

George E. Haskell, 3/16/34 | 9/11/15. The family of George Edward Haskell is remembering his life this week as they gather to celebrate their husband, father, and grandfather. George passed away last Friday, September 11, 2015. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, September 19th at 11am at the Episcopal Church in Wolfeboro, NH. George was born in Dedham, MA. in 1934. He attended Dedham High School and later graduated from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. After college, George served for 6 years in the United States Air Force, as a jet pilot and a flight instructor stationed at the Furstenfeldbruck Air Force Base in Germany. He had a life-long love of flying. George started his business career at the Burroughs Corporation in Detroit and then moved his family to California to join a small company called Tratec. In 1979 he and his wife Karen started their own company, Spectrum Training Corporation. George was President & CEO of his latest venture, Leading Indicator Systems, an internet-based software company, until his passing. At the center of Georges life was his family. His six daughters, extraordinary as a group of women, each have very individual and special relationships with their Dad. They and their families, have gathered with George and Karen for summers on Lake Winnipesaukee for over 30 years. George leaves his wife Karen, his six daughters Julie, Jennifer, Jill, Jane, Kate and Alex, their spouses and 7 adoring grandchildren as well as his brother Frank Haskell and his wife Betty of Fort Myers, Florida; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Next year his daughter Kate, a Navy pilot, will ride in the Pan Mass Challenge under the name Team George. In lieu of flowers, we would very much appreciate contributions made directly to the Jimmy Fund at http://www. myjimmyfundpage.org/give/teamgeorge

I worked for George and Karen for about nine months during the launch of Spectrum Training in Boston. He was gracious to me, and took it upon himself to introduce me to jogging - letting me alternatively run and bike a bike to keep up with him on his long runs along the Charles River and elsewhere. He was a born teacher and mentor, certainly a leader, and an Alpha Male of the best kind. His devotion to family and healthy living were inspiring, examples I've never forgotten.

I will always remember George (or Junie as we called him) as a wonderful man. He was my godfather and was always so wonderful . I will remember the great times we had with his mother Peg and my grandmother Anna! They were two sisters who could make everyone laugh! Junie brought both Anna and Peg on a cruise together right before Nana passed away and they had such a wonderful time! This to me shows what a kind, loving and generous man he was. Paul and I express our deepest sympathy to Karen and his family. He loved you all so much and will be missed! Love, Susan (Robertson) And Paul Butler
